How can CBD enhance my fitness routine?

Find out why more and more athletes are believers.

Cannabinoid supplements have been gaining popularity over the past couple of years.  CBD and THC are the most well known cannabinoids.  For athletes, a full spectrum supplement of cannabinoids and terpenes can help performance and recovery!

Since the recent passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, removing hemp from the controlled substance list, the research and studies have increased tremendously.  Users and medical professionals alike claim that the healing properties of CBD include pain relief, decreased anxiety and better sleep.

Athletes have started using a cannabinoid supplement for various reasons, the most common being:

1. Ease chronic pain
2. Ibuprofen alternative
3. Routine recovery
4. Better performance
5. Reduce stress
The body’s endocannabioid system has hundreds of receptors throughout the body.  The CB1 receptor is directly linked to the brain’s ability to process pain.  When the receptor is filled with the proper cannabinoids, the brain’s pain signals are reduced, resulting in a reduction of physical pain.
Many athletes use ibuprofen as part of a daily routine to reduce inflammation and minor aches and pains. Because CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory, it serves as a great replacement for athletes who depend on these muscle relaxing benefits.  There are also studies that show increased sleep with a cannabinoid supplement use.  Better sleep accelerates the recuperation process, which is highly beneficial to athletes.

You’ve probably heard fellow runners or weight lifters talk about the increased energy levels that come from CBD.  CBD is able to give energy levels a boost by strengthening body cells that can make you feel sleepy and sluggish. It can help to reignite your focus and mental clarity, allowing you to think more clearly and quickly.  A high quality cannabinoid supplement can help give the body the energy boost it needs to function properly throughout the day.
Possibly the most intriguing benefit for athletes could be the mood balancing effects. Studies performed on human subjects suggest that stress and anxiety are reduced with the use of a cannabinoid supplement.  Many athletes suffer from game day anxiety, which causes performance to suffer.  A calm, positive outlook can help reach peak performance.

It’s important to note that some athletes may be screened for “dope” and not all cannabinoid supplements are alike.  When purchasing a product, always read the COA, or certificate of analysis first.  It will show the levels of cannabinoids in that specific batch.  For optimal performance, THC content should be under .1%, as THC is the cannabinoid that makes you feel lazy/drowsy.   The legal limit for THC is .03%, however in the case of athletes, the lower the THC, the better. A full spectrum hemp oil will give the entourage effect from the cannabinoids and terpenes, ensuring a positive result.
